Dr. Deb Brown
Hello! My name is Dr. Deb Brown, and I am the owner of Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital. I grew up on a farm in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. I knew I wanted to be a vet since I was seven years old after taking care of my first pets, a pair of lambs named Bo and Peep.
I graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN with a bachelor’s degree in biology. I continued my training at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1994.
I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine. My special interest is integrative/holistic medicine. I earned my certification in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute in Florida in 2001. I have also studied Chinese herbal medicine, western herbal medicine, food therapy, and homotoxicology (bioregulatory medicine). I want to be able to heal the whole pet and not just treat the symptoms of the disease. I love helping pets and their owners!
When I’m not at work, I like spending time with my two cats, Rosebud and Diamond Sparkles. I enjoy reading suspense novels, camping, and kayaking Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes.
Dr. Blake Setness
Dr. Blake Setness was born in Park River, North Dakota and was raised in Neche, ND, located in the far northeastern portion of the state, along the Canadian border. He attended his primary school at North Border Public Schools in Pembina, ND. While growing up, Dr. Setness realized he wanted to become a veterinarian while taking care of multiple species of animals that included rabbits, birds, fish, and dogs.
Following high school, Dr. Setness attended the University of Minnesota Crookston where he graduated in 2013 with a BS in Animal Science with a pre-veterinary emphasis. While attending University of Minnesota Crookston, Dr. Setness was active in the animal science program as well as competing as a student athlete playing football. He continued his veterinary education at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2017. Since then, Dr. Setness practiced at a busy small animal clinic in Grand Forks, ND.
In his free time, Dr. Setness enjoys the outdoors, watching sporting events, hunting, and fishing, as well as spending time with his amazing wife Marie. Together, Dr. Setness and Marie love to spend time outdoors and taking care of their two dogs, Gus and Sophie, and two cats, Oliver and Franklin.
Certified Veterinary Technician
Hi. My name is Nichole, and I am a Certified Veterinary Technician here at Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital. I graduated from Argosy University in 2011 and received certification not long afterwards. I have lived most of my life in the Cities, but I am greatly enjoying it up north in the Great Lakes area.
I have been an animal lover since a very young age. My parents always said I would rather play with my stuffed animals than any doll. I enjoyed growing up with three dogs in my family and spending my summers around my uncle’s goats and helping out a family friend with her horses.
I greatly appreciate working with Dr. Deb and all the other wonderful, caring people here at Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital.
My name is Kalli Randall, and I graduated from Ridgewater College in May 2014 from the Veterinary Technician Program. I have always had a love for animals for as long as I can remember and knew that going to school to work with animals was something I needed to do. I started working with Dr. Brown and the wonderful staff here at Pequot Animal Hospital in January 2015. My fur babies consist of my two crazy cats, Maiz and Boomer. I love spending time with my family and friends.
I am glad to say that I am part of this team and that I love my job and helping all the furry friends.
Hi, my name is Kas, and I am a Veterinary Assistant at Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital. I grew up in Minnesota with our family pets, including dogs and horses. I always enjoyed being around them, and knew I wanted to be in the veterinary field when I grew up.
As an adult, I joined the Air Force and moved to Arizona. I was able to continue my education through Carrington College and received my certification in veterinary assisting in 2013. I am happy to be back in Minnesota and spending time with family, friends, and dogs, Gypsy and Cara.
Working with the staff here has been wonderful and a great experience.
Hey, there! My name is Kali Bible, and I am a Certified Veterinary Technician here at Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital. I graduated from the Veterinary Technician Program at Ridgewater College in May 2019 and passed my boards in December 2019. Born an animal lover, I always knew that I wanted to work with animals.
Fun fact about me: I have a passion and a special place in my heart for exotic animals. I did my summer internship at a zoo in Wichita, Kansas, and it was one of the best experiences I have had. The thing that started this unique passion for exotic animals and animals in general was my bearded dragon Zues (Zeus). This passion I have has led me to where I am today.
Currently, I have a Quaker Parrot named Milo. He tends to act like a flying two-year-old toddler, and I don’t think he will ever grow out of that. I love him with all my heart, and I think he loves me back most days. I also have a Savannah Monitor named Link. He is the most curious and sassy little thing I’ve met, which I love, but it does get him into trouble most days.
Shortly after my internship in Kansas, Dr. Brown and her team welcomed me to the Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital family with open arms!
Hello, my name is Brianna, and I’m a veterinary assistant here at Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital. I grew up in the Lakes area and have always had a love for animals.
Growing up, I always had dogs in my life and would try to adopt various other animals ranging from rabbits, turtles, and kittens. (I would’ve had a zoo if my parents had let me!)
I currently have a very handsome and feisty cat named Thor, and I spend a lot of my time with our family’s Springer Spaniel Sophie, who loves a lot of attention and treats! I’m very excited to be working for Dr. Brown and her amazing team and am happy to be helping animals live a happy healthy life!
Hi! My name is Emily, and I attended Minnesota School of Business to study veterinary technology. I grew up south of the cities in New Prague, Minnesota. I moved to the Lakes area in 2010 for the peacefulness and scenery! I grew up helping my uncle on his sheep ranch every year in central Montana and found my love for all sorts of animals.
I started working with Dr. Deb and staff in July 2017, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I am constantly learning new tips and tricks to keep my pets and our clients’ pets healthy, and it is truly rewarding. My first love is a German Shepherd mix that I adopted from Hart in 2011. Her name is Roxanne, and she is a bundle of energy and sass. My second princess is a Husky mix that I adopted from Hart in 2015. Her name is Nala, and she is very talkative and loves belly rubs. She loves anything, as long as it includes your attention! My third little devil is a wolf hybrid named Athena. She is full of spunk and will have an entire conversation with you!
I love working here with Dr. Deb and staff. I have not only gained work relationships but true friendships. I love being here to help all of our furry patients.
Hello! My Name is Vanessa Moen, and I’m a client coordinator here at Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital. I moved to Crosslake from South Florida with my husband Brett, and we absolutely love spending the summer months on the Whitefish Chain.
I have always been an animal lover! We have five fur babies at home that keep us very busy. Ella Marie is our Pit Bull that we rescued in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She is a sensitive and gentle lady who loves riding on the pontoon and sleeping on as many pillows as possible. Elijah Montgomery is our Japanese Chin. He is by far the most spirited and independent of our pack and definitely keeps me on my toes. Then we have our three sibling cats: Emerson, Ezmeralda, and Miss Buddha. I was there the day they were born, and they have been snuggling with me every night since then.
I am thrilled to have a job that allows me to make amazing connections with so many wonderful people and animals.
